IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOHN ALBERS
John R. Albers was born in Kiester, Minnesota in 1965. His father died when he was 3 and his oldest sibling was 16. There were 5 brothers and sisters, and he said his Mother always made sure that they went to church and Sunday School weekly, which laid a solid foundation for John’s faith. But there was still something missing in his life, John said, and he tried to fill it with all of the rebellious ways teens do, remaining empty inside. The Lord kept putting godly people into his life that were a good influence on him and really made him search deeper. Finally, at the age of 29, Jesus broke through that hard shell while he was listening to Chuck Swindoll on KJYL. He then knelt in surrender and received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord, and he said since that time it was 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, but always a wonderful journey!
John began working at KJYL on weekends shortly after that time. His favorite verse was 2 Timothy 2:15, “Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the Word of truth.” This verse really challenged John to study God’s Word diligently and share it with others.
John was called home to meet his Savior face to face on August 31, 2005, at 40 years of age. Though the accident that happened at work may have been tragic and seemed untimely to all who knew him, we know and believe that God, in His sovereign and perfect will, was in control and had a “higher plan” for John that would bring glory unto His Name. John served His Savior faithfully and passionately, and desired that everyone he knew and loved would come to know and embrace the love of Jesus Christ, also.
John leaves behind his wife, Becca, and two children, Laura and Andrew, who trust and believe that they will see him again someday. John was an active member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Awana Commander, Deacon, Sound Technician, Worship Leader, Bible Study Leader, and also served on the Building Committee for the upcoming addition to the church. He was working for Gold-Eagle Coop at the time of his death.
John’s presence and smile will be missed very much by all who knew and loved him and worked along side of him. But for the Christian, we cry with hope – as we know that we will see John again – when we are finally home. “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” I John 11-13
